Smart move – Investments in early education noticed nationally April 11, 2008 Today’s Longview Daily News is highlighting a recent report from a national children’s advocacy called Voices for America’s Children. From TDN - “Washington lawmakers made early childhood education a high priority beginning in 2006, with the creation of state Department of Early Learning… “A new report by the Washington, D.C., advocacy group Voices for America's Children suggests that it was a smart bet. Washington is among 10 states held up by the report as models for expanding the opportunity for children to start school prepared for success. The state is cited for investing more than $184 million toward expanding and improving child-care subsidies, pre-kindergarten and full-day kindergarten programs, and family support programs.” More information about Washington's early learning efforts can be found here.
