“Today is a historic day as voters in Washington say yes to protecting and strengthening all families in our state. Until today, thirty states have said no to gay and lesbian families, and tonight, Washington becomes the first state to choose hope over fear, equality rather than discrimination. I was proud to be a co-sponsor of the legislation that expanded the rights and responsibilities of domestic partnerships, because I believe strong families make strong communities. I’m pleased that the people of our great state have affirmed their support for this critical measure.”
