Note: Rep. Kagi is also the national Chair of the Human Services Committee for the National Conference of State Legislatures.
Early Learning and Children’s Services - Chair
The House Early Learning and Children’s Services Committee considers
issues relating to early learning from birth to kindergarten; children
and family issues, including parent education, foster care, dependency,
child protective services, child welfare services, children’s mental
health and family reconciliation services; and family support programs,
including TANF. The committee also considers issues relating to at-risk
youth and youth violence prevention.
Ways and Means
The House Ways and Means Committee considers the operating budget
bill and bills with fiscal impact. In addition, the committee
specializes in pension policy.
Education Appropriations
The Education Appropriations committee considers issues
relating to funding of early learning, K-12, and higher education
programs and agencies and makes funding recommendations to the
Appropriations Committee.
