It is an honor to represent the people of Washington's 23rd legislative district, which covers Silverdale, Poulsbo, Kingston, Bainbridge Island, much of Bremerton, and surrounding areas of the beautiful Kitsap peninsula.

Part of my job representing the citizens of the 23rd District is listen to your concerns, and in turn to keep you informed about key legislative issues.

In meetings with individuals, families and groups all over our district, I've been reassured that these are priorities we share, and that I will continue to work for:

• Lowering the cost of prescription drugs and curbing the rising costs of healthcare, regardless of how the current federal debate on healthcare reform plays out.
• Providing incentives to our small businesses so they have opportunity to succeed -- to prosper, to provide jobs, and to keep our Main Streets healthy.
• Finding common-sense transportation solutions, especially regarding the ferry system that is truly a lifeline to countless Kitsap families and businesses.
• Diversifying our economic base throughout the region and the state.
